About Canventa Life Sciences

Who we are

With your help, Canventa Life Sciences is dedicated to advancing medical research by providing scientists with the material they need in their pursuit of drug discovery and new therapies. We are committed to setting the highest standard for the collection of blood and bone marrow specimens to be used by the research community, placing the health, safety, and comfort of our donors at the core of our donor programs.

We are motivated by our ability to impact research, enabling scientists to access the biospecimens required to translate their research into therapies and improve patient outcomes. This accelerates the pace of research, driving drug discovery and therapeutic treatment of disease.

At Canventa, together we are Giving Life to Research.

What we do

The use of blood and other specimens in scientific research is critically important for the advancement of medical breakthroughs and life-saving treatments. Scientists depend on these generous donations to accelerate their research, but one of their main concerns is specimen availability.

Canventa collects blood and bone marrow from healthy donors and processes it into samples that go directly towards advancing this research. Our goal is to reduce the amount of time it takes for researchers to get these precious samples, helping them achieve their breakthroughs faster.

If researchers had to collect their own specimens and obtain all necessary approvals from Ethics Boards, recruiting suitable donors would take them months or even years. In many cases, specimens need to be processed into usable components or samples, and many researchers do not have the expertise or equipment to do so. Canventa’s lab specializes in using high-tech equipment and techniques to separate the individual cell types before sending them to researchers. This way, the researcher receives the specific samples they need for their experiments and they can begin their experiments immediately rather than having to spend extra time finding blood donors and doing the sample processing and separation themselves. With the samples and separation already completed, researchers are then able to focus on the next breakthrough, leading to future life-saving therapies.

All of our Ethics Review Board-approved collection efforts have been designed with the donor’s comfort, safety, and anonymity as our highest priority. By enrolling in Canventa’s collection program you are joining us in our mission to reduce the amount of time it takes for research to become therapies. Together we can contribute to life-saving research.

Ethical statement

Driven by our commitment to the highest ethical standards, Canventa’s collection protocols are approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB), an independent committee that protects the rights of human subjects in biomedical research. This ensures the welfare, privacy, and informed consent of our donors throughout the collection process. Donors participating in our collection studies are informed and agree to all aspects of the study before their participation.

Our donor programs follow ethical donor research principles, as well as guidelines recommended by the American Association of Blood Banks, American Medical Association, and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The safety and comfort of donors is our highest priority.

We take donor privacy seriously and strive to follow all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines to protect donor confidentiality so that no data generated from research will ever be traced back to an individual donor. We ensure informed consent through effective communication of the donation process and transparency regarding the potential intended use of samples so that donors are empowered to make informed decisions regarding their donation.

Canventa is dedicated to leading the industry in the ethical collection and provision of human biospecimens, making the rights and welfare of our donors the center of our practices.

Values

Our core values center around respect for our donors and integrity in the way we communicate. We are committed to leading the industry in responsible donor programs and transparency in the cell sourcing process. We are committed to:

  • Respect for the welfare, rights, and consent of donors.
  • Transparency in the cell sourcing process, including how they are collected and how they may be used in research.
  • Integrity in the way we work, communicate, and conduct ourselves.
  • Leading the industry in responsible donor program practices and compliance.
